Dr. Oz: Secret to a Younger Heart
Dr. Oz talked on his show about the best holistic secret to a younger heart. He asked his audience to eat it and see what they think. They were all eating popcorn, but the product was on top of the popcorn. Answers included salt, vinegar, caramel, cheese, and olive oil, which makes you wonder what the heck the popcorn tasted like.
Someone guessed probiotics, which Dr. Oz said was close. Then someone guessed yeast and bingo, they were right. It turns out Dr. Oz had snuck some Brewer’s Yeast onto the popcorn.
Dr. Oz: What is Brewer’s Yeast?

Dr. Oz asked people to raise their hands if they knew something about Brewer’s Yeast. He picked out Elizabeth from the audience, who hadn’t raised her hand. She said this is the first time she’s heard of it and she didn’t know anything about it.
Elizabeth has high cholesterol and said she “probably bleeds gravy.” Dr. Oz said that he went into heart surgery because he loves taking care of people’s hearts. He said if you take care of your heart, you can be there for the people you love. Elizabeth said she loves her 18-month-old daughter Catherine.
Dr. Oz explained that Brewer’s Yeast is made from fungus. He told Elizabeth this after she tried it. He explained that they use Brewer’s Yeast to make beer. You can find it at health food stores in liquid form, tablet form, and powder form. Dr. Oz likes it in powder form and likes to add it to popcorn.
Dr. Oz: Brewer’s Yeast Can Lower Cholesterol
Brewer’s Yeast help reduce cholesterol. Dr. Oz said that with both men and women, if your cholesterol is close to where it needs to be, it can often be fixed with diet alone. Brewer’s Yeast helps with that.
Besides popcorn, you can put it on cereal and yogurt. Dr. Oz also recommended baking some cauliflower and adding the yeast on top.

Nutritional Yeast is very rich in phosphorous (like beef) which needs to be balanced by taking extra calcium, and calcium needs to be balanced by taking extra magnesium. Eating phosphorous rich foods alone daily can over time create a calcium deficiency – I am speaking from first hand experience.
