Dr Oz: January Dry Out
Dr Oz revealed the number one health change you can make, but likely aren’t, and it only takes 30 days! What he was referring to, was the “January dry out.” It’s a huge trend in the U.K. and it’s about to make a big change in a lot of people’s lives. All you have to do is pledge to not drink any alcohol for 30 days to detox and take control of your health.
Dr Oz introduced three friends who agreed that they could use the dry out for their health. They love their girl time once a week when they get together to watch Scandal. They enjoy wine and beer as well as unhealthy food like wings and beer. They also have their girls’ night out a couple times a month, having drinks at the bar then dinner. The next day, they’re all left feeling like they overdid it. They’re ready to make healthier choices, or so they say!

Dr Oz: Detox From Alcohol To Improve Health
Tia Brown joined the show with the three women to reveal the plan to better health. Tia explained that when you become a mom and a wife, you are invested in so many things which is why that girl time is so important, as long as you do it in a healthy way. The plan is about detoxing your body and pushing the reset button. The dry out lets you stop drinking for a little and see how it impacts your health and your appearance.
The goal is that at the end of the month, your blood pressure is dropped seven points. You could even lose three pounds. There’s an app called BAM that shows you how many drinks you have per week and the impact it can have on your over a long period of time. The three women saw their images transformed with the app, and were even more motivated to say goodbye to alcohol, at least for the month!
Dr Oz: New Social Calendar + Mocktail
The first part of the plan is to make a new social calendar in order to change your habits. It’s best to find something to do to supplement the drinking. If you usually hang out at a bar with your friends, try a board game night instead! On a Friday night, try rollerskating!
But if you’re still craving that sip of alcohol, try a mocktail! Dr Oz shared his soda sangria, that he made with muddle strawberries and blackberries, ice, soda water, fresh lime juice, mint and a cute straw! You can still feel sexy without the alcohol! It’s important to have me-time that can help you relax!
Finally, you can use the alcohol savings to treat yourself! That money that you would’ve spent on drinks, can now be used as a little self gift. You can save, on average, $280!
Dr Oz: Quick Exercise To Help You Lose Weight
Next, Dr Oz introduced his Day-Off Diet which can actually help you lose weight without exercising. While exercising isn’t mandatory, it certainly helps because over two-thirds of people polled want exercise as part of their weight loss plan. Trainer Joel Harper said exercise compliments a weight loss program and often times all it takes is getting into a routine. There’s one exercise that can jump-start your weight loss: knee bounces. Get down on all fours, bending at the knees with your hands and toes touching the ground. Then bounce, one inch up and one inch down, repeatedly.
Every time you do an exercise, you want to stretch right away. Whether you’re stretching your quads or your arms, you want to leave a workout feeling energy-free.
Before the end of his show, Dr Oz revealed a shortcut to removing pomegranate seeds. A fast way to get them out is to cut into a pomegranate all the way around, before twisting and breaking it into two halves. Hold one half over the bowl and wack it with a wooden spoon to pop out the seeds. You can also do it underwater to avoid splashing the juice.
