Dr Oz: Mood Swing Triggers
Annemarie is a Dr Oz viewer who feels like she has no control over her moods. It’s like they have a mind of their own. She sent in a video to the show about how the smallest things can send her day off course.
She may start out with a sunny disposition, but something as small as getting dressed can set off a negative reaction or a wave of emotion. Her husband has even given her a nickname, The Bear, because he never knows when her mood could shift in an instant.

She is worried because her dramatic Mood Swings have taken a toll on her home life and relationships. She knows her reactions are extreme and usually unwarranted given the circumstances.
Dr Oz: Health Triggers for Mood Swings
When Dr Oz put Annemarie in the Truth Tube, he shared her health results. It was good news. Her Blood Sugar levels were normal and so was her Thyroid. That meant that there was not an underlying medical cause to explain her Mood Swings. What else could be responsible?
Dr Oz said three things could be causing Annemarie’s Mood Swings:
- Caffeine
- Sleep
- Diet
Dr Oz: Caffeine Causes Mood Swings
Annemarie drinks three sodas each day, which means she is getting more than the normal amount of caffeine each day. That may be a factor in her mood problems.
Dr Oz: Sleep Deprivation Causes Mood Swings
Annemarie only sleeps approximately four hours every night, which means that she is not getting the sleep she needs. This could also be causing problems with her mood.
Dr Oz: Carbs Cause Mood Swings
Dr Oz also suspected that she is eating too many carbs or simple sugars, which is not helping her body and is contributing to the emotional tidal wave she lives with.
However, these factors can all be addressed, and Dr Oz had a Mood Swing Plan that he thought could help Annemarie take control of her moods and her family life.
