Dr. Oz: Probiotic Drinks
Probiotic drinks are some of the hottest drinks sold in health food stores. They claim to aid in digestion, kill bad bacteria, and detoxify the body. But do they work?
Dr. Oz introduced Maria. She takes probiotic drinks everyday. She said she started because she was having digestive difficulties and she tried a lot of different things, like increasing fiber and eating cleaner. That’s when she decided to give probiotic drinks a try. She replaces one of the glasses of water we’re supposd to drink a day with a probiotic drink, in the middle of the day, between lunch and dinner.
Dr. Oz: Should We Take Probiotics On A Full Stomach?

Problems with your digestion? No worries! Dr. Oz had all the answers surrounding probiotic drinks, whether they really work, and how to take them.
Dr. Oz said that if we take probiotics on a full stomach, it’s not going to have the effect we want. He demonstrated that when the stomach is full, it’s hard for the probiotics to get to where they need to go, because the food is in the way. If you take them on an empty stomach, however, they’ll get there just fine.
Dr. Oz: Kombucha Tea Recipe
Maria said she makes her own probiotic drink. The recipe comes from her parents. It’s a Kombucha Tea recipe and Dr. Oz was intrigued, because he’d never heard of anyone making their own Kombucha Tea.
Maria said it’s made with the following ingredients:
- 10 Organic Black Tea Bags
- 2 Gallons of Water
- 2 Cups of Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
Dr. Oz took a big swig before Maria could mention the vinegar and he was thrown off by the taste. He was expecting a sweet flavor and got a vinegar taste. He actually made a disgusted face when he tasted it.
Dr. Oz: How to Take Probiotics
Dr. Oz said probiotics are important for a number of reasons, but if you take them, you have to take them right. You should have around 25 billion live active organisms. You want to make sure to take the probiotics 30 minutes before the meal or at least two hours after, or else you’re wasting your money and they won’t work.
You can also look for live and active cultures in natural foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, and pickled vegetables.
