Unless she sees a photo of herself when she was heavier, she doesn’t realize she’s thinner. Two months ago, she wore a dress on The View. She found it emotionally jarring because everyone told her she looked great and she didn’t like the attention. She said she put on the weight almost as a protection and now she feels more vulnerable.
She also told a story about when she was younger and at her thinnest, when two men at a gas station politely talked to her and invited her to a show. She said the whole situation was very nice and safe, but it drove her to cheat on her diet for the first time in months with some ice cream. She said there’s something about attention from her appearance she doesn’t like. She prefers getting attention with her humor.
Dr. Oz: Rosie O’Donnell on Beauty
Dr. Oz asked Rosie O’Donnell if she thought she was a beautiful woman. She said no, but her kids tell her she is. Dr. Oz, who apparently had not been listening to what she had just said, said he thought she was a beautiful woman.
“Wow. Back at you, Dr. Oz,” she said.
“It always pains me when I see women not appreciate that in themselves,” he said.
Dr. Oz: Rosie O’Donnell Heart Attack Symptoms for Women
Rosie O’Donnell also has a new HBO special documentary called Rosie O’Donnell: A Heartfelt Stand-Up, which Dr. Oz said was great. Rosie said after her heart attack, she wanted to do a public service announcement. She asked some other famous women who’d had heart attacks to participate, but they didn’t want to because they felt there was a stigma to it.
Rosie said she wanted women to know the symptoms of a heart attack were different for women than men. So she came up with an acronym, which is H.E.P.P.P. That’s pronounced “Hep-pah-pah”. H is for Hotter than you’ve ever felt, E is for exhaustion, P is for paleness, P is for Puke, and P is for Pain, which can be anywhere, from your neck to jaw to chest to arms to tongues to shoulders to back. Rosie’s pain was only in her biceps, so she didn’t think it could be a heart attack.
Rosie said she wants Nicki Minaj and Beyonce to join her in making a rap about this. Then she demonstrated how that might sound, listing the different symptoms of a heart attack for women. It was hilarious!
