Dr Oz: Human Guinea Pig A.J. Jacobs
Do you think an app could help you lose weight or calm your mood? Dr. Oz enlisted the help of the man who calls himself the “human guinea pig”, A.J. Jacobs. A.J. is renowned for testing out everything from gadgets to diet plans and sharing the information he learns with the world.

The Mood Panda App helps you monitor your mood during the day and adjust your schedule so you will happy more and mad less.
In this task, he tried out nearly 50 of the apps and gadgets that promise to help you get healthy in 2013. He said that while you need to be careful because there is a lot of “snake oil” out there, there are also a few apps that will help you lose reduce stress, lose weight and get healthy.
Dr Oz: Stress Check Pro App Review
Stress Check Pro App by Azumio – This app measures your stress level anytime and anywhere. It uses the camera lens of your phone to test your stress level. You place your finger on the lens and within several seconds it tells you how stressed you are feeling.
Dr Oz: Mood Panda App Review
Mood Panda – This app is a good way to see your mood throughout the day. As you go through your day, you rate your mood and add a description so you can remember what it was that caused your mood at that time, whether it was a good mood or bad mood. At the end of the day, you can look at a graph to see how your mood fluctuated during the day. The best part? This app is totally free!
Dr Oz: Breathe2Relax App Review
Breathe2Relax App – This app has various scenery for you to choose from as it takes you through breathing exercises to help lower your stress. It includes a meter and timer that guides you through inhaling and exhaling as it begins to help you relax. This app is also free!
Dr Oz: Meal Snap App Review
Meal Snap – The Meal Snap app actually takes a snapshot of the food on your plate and estimates the number of calories in your meal. While is not 100% accurate, it is very close. What A.J. Jacobs says he likes about this app, is that it slows you down and makes you think about what you are about to eat. Cost for the Meal Snap app is $2.99.
Dr Oz: Stickk App Review
Stickk App – A.J. Jacobs explains that this app is a way to motivate you to achieve your health goals. He says that you enter a goal, like that you will walk 10,000 steps, and if you do not complete that goal you will have to donate to a charity or organization that you do not like or support. This will keep you motivated to complete the task because you will have already entered your credit card information. This app is Free unless of course you do not reach your goal.
Dr Oz: Fitocracy App Review
Fitocracy – This is basically a social networking site for people who want to get into shape. It is a great way to share your workout achievements as you earn points along the way. A.J. Jacobs explains that it becomes a competitive game with your friends because as you share your own points, you will also see their points, causing you to push a little harder to earn more points for yourself. The good news is that that this app is FREE!
