Dr Oz: New Grapefruit Detox
Dr Oz was proud to reveal the new and improved way to use grapefruit to lose weight. His 7-day grapefruit detox plan was put together with the help of nutritionist Kellyann Petrucci. Dr Oz shared pictures of both him and Kellyann from the 80’s which the grapefruit diet was popular. However, as he explained, it seems like dieters weren’t doing things the right way back then. You don’t have to go hungry!

Dr Oz reminded everyone that the golden rule of the grapefruit detox plan is to eat 1/2 grapefruit at every meal. That’s right, a meal! You certainly don’t have to starve on this diet. So what can you expect to eat for lunch?
1/2 grapefruit + 1 healthy fat + unlimited vegetables = lunch
Kellyann loved the idea of making skewers for lunch by cutting up the 1/2 a grapefruit and skewering it along with jicama, avocado, and tomatoes. She explained that lunch can be considered the “dieter’s milestone” because you need a little encouragement to get through. The healthy fat can help you do just that by getting you through until dinner.
Dr Oz: Grapefruit For Dinner
Finally, a new way to eat grapefruit for dinner is anything but boring. To wake up with a flatter belly, try building a Tangy Grapefruit Protein Bowl. The formula for dinner on the plan is as follows:
1/2 grapefruit + 1 C cooked ancient grains & vegetables + 4-oz protein = dinner

Ancient grains help stabilize your blood sugar and keep you full. Kellyann’s favorites are wild rice and quinoa. The grains are perfect for helping calm your body to ease you into sleep. Better sleep means better weight loss. Plus, ancient grains are more easily digested.

- 1/2 C quinoa
- 1/2 green pepper – sliced
- 4-oz grilled chicken
- 2 C leafy greens of choice
- 1/2 grapefruit

- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients except for the grapefruit
- Squeeze the grapefruit juice all over the salad as a tangy dressing
