Dr Oz: Chicken Sriracha Stir Fry Recipe
Dr Oz challenged Aaron McCargo, Jr., aka Big Daddy from the hit show on The Food Network, to take 3 key ingredients from the Dr Oz 28 Day Plan To Prevent Heart Disease and create a heart healthy meal. Big Daddy picked sweet potatoes, kidney beans and Sriracha to create his delicious chicken sriracha stir fry.
In the studio, Dr Oz asked Big Daddy how he got his name.
He told Dr Oz that when he was on a Food Network reality cooking show, people called him Big Daddy because of his size and his big mouth. Since then, the name stuck.
Big Daddy’s Chicken Sriracha Stir Fry Recipe
Ingredients:
Chicken breast
Kidney beans
Sweet potatoes
Broccoli florets
Red bell peppers
Grapeseed oil
Sesame oil.
Dr Oz started the wok and mixed the sweet potatoes and then added the kidney beans. Watch this because it cooks fast. Big Daddy then had Dr Oz add the broccoli. (To keep the color, blanch the broccoli before adding.) Mix for 3-5 minutes.
Sweet Spicy Sauce:
Low sodium soy sauce
Fresh garlic
Fresh ginger
Sesame oil
Rice wine vinegar
Agave nectar
Sriracha
Add these ingredients and mix together for 3 minutes on high. Pour sauce over the chicken and veggies
Serve over brown rice
Before having audience members test it, Dr Oz does his famous pan flip. (He’s getting better. This time nothing spilled from the pan.)
The audience loves it! The best part is that Big Daddy’s Chicken Sriracha Stir Fry has less than 500 calories per serving.
This simple recipe takes only 15 minutes to prepare. Are you going to try it tonight? If so, leave a message and let me know how delicious it was.

I ran out to the store right away after the show, all excited anticipated this healthy meal only to be disillusioned by the staff at the store when I asked for Sriracha…Nobody in the store knew what it was! so I came home with my tail between my legs. Will try a health food store next time. Thanks anyway.Nancy

FYI, I have purchased Sriracha Chili Sauce at the Chinese/Asian Food Restaurants here in So Cal. (Most major cities have a Chinatown or Asian market; there is always on-line Amazon.com)
Tracey says
Sriracha is just a thai chili sauce. It’s very hot. Any Asian chili sauce will do in a pinch and most grocery stores have chili sauce in their imported food isle. Most westerners aren’t exposed to “real” chili sauce so don’t bother asking for it, you need to search the shelves yourself.

Would like to know the measurements – how much of each?
CJ Flat says
I found Sriracha @ a regular Target Superstore. It was on the top shelf with the Indian foods – between Hispanic and Asian.

I also would like to have the correct amounts to use! I did find the Sriracha at Safeway..the very last bottle too! It is very very hot. I believe this recipe should be very good. I just require the amounts please!
