If you’re a busy mom like me, the last thing you want to do after a long day is slave in the kitchen trying to put ingredients together to feed your family. Giada de Laurentiis joined Dr Oz to share one of her go-to tricks to making a healthy recipe the whole family will love. Her Matcha Green Tea Chicken Tenders are literally green tenders which may throw you off a bit, but there’s no denying how delicious they taste once you dig in!

Dr Oz: Giada De Laurentiis Matcha Green Tea Chicken Tenders

Giada de Laurentiis found a way to make chicken tenders even healthier during a fun visit with Dr Oz. (lafoodie / Flickr)

  • 1/4 C fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp agave
  • 2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt – divided
  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 1/2 C breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 C flour
  • 2 large eggs – beaten

Dr Oz: Giada De Laurentiis Matcha Green Tea Chicken Tenders Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the soy sauce, orange zest, orange juice, agave, and rice vinegar to make the dipping sauce
  4. Set aside to let the flavors marinate while you prepare the chicken
  5. In a pie plate or shallow bowl, mix the bread crumbs and matcha powder together
  6. In a separate shallow bowl, mix 1/2 tsp salt and flour
  7. Put the beaten eggs in a third shallow bowl
  8. Work with one tender at a time and dredge the chicken in the seasoned flour, then the egg, then the bread crumbs
  9. Put the tenders on the prepared baking sheet
  10. Bake for 10 minutes until golden and cooked through
  11. Add a dash of salt
  12. Serve with the dipping sauce on the side
