Dr Oz: Fix Your Metabolism With Protein
The second phase of Haylie Pomroy’s plan to fix to your metabolism and lose 20 pounds in 28 days lasts for two days and focuses on eating a lot of low-fat protein combined with loads of vegetables. She says you will not store any fat during this phase because the vegetables will be scouring your body for stored fat to burn.
Dr Oz: Tuna Salad Stuffed Red Pepper
Here is what you need for 2 servings:
- 1 red bell pepper, washed, halved and cored
- 5-oz can tuna, packed in water
- 3 small cucumbers, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 2 tablespoons red onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- Pinch of sea salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Here is what you need to do:
Drain the tuna and add to a small mixing bowl with the cucumbers, onions and basil. Stir until combined. Gently add in the lemon juice, mustard, salt and pepper. Evenly divide the tuna mixture and fill the red pepper halves. Enjoy!
Dr Oz: New York Strip Steak With Steamed Asparagus
Here is what you need for 1 serving:
- 5- to 6-oz New York strip steak (shell steak)
- 10-12 spears of fresh asparagus
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Here is what you need to do:
- Place your broiler pan in the oven and preheat to broil. Remove the excess fat from the steak and rub both sides with the garlic, salt and pepper. Place the steak on the hot broiler pan and cook to your preference, from 7 to 15 minutes. (If you like your steak well-done without being charred on the outside, slice it in half.)
- As the steak is broiling, steam the asparagus. Bring 1 to 2 inches of water to a boil in either a double pan or with a wire steaming tray. Put on the lid and steam for about 4 to 6 minutes, or until a fork pokes through easily.
- Season with sea salt and pepper. Serve with steak and enjoy!

Haylie Pomroy says you can keep from binging at a party by eating 10-15 grams of lean protein every two hours before attending the event.
Phase three of Haylie Pomroy’s plan focuses on adding in healthy fats that will in turn help you to burn more fat. She says there are several ways you can incorporate healthy fats into your diet and she shared some ideas to get you started, including an easy recipe for lunch or dinner!
Dr Oz: Avocado and Turkey Lettuce Wrap
Here is what you need for 1 serving:
- 2 to 4 large romaine lettuce leaves
- 1 cup arugula
- 1/2 cup cooked ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons hummus
- 1 tablespoon salsa
- 1/2 avocado, sliced thinly
- Sea salt and pepper
Here is what you need to do:
Spread the lettuce on a plate and top with the hummus and salsa, spreading evenly. Add the turkey, arugula and avocado. Shake on some salt and pepper and enjoy!

Late-Night Binge – Haylie Pomroy says if you have a late-night binge it is important to eat a lot of citrus fruits the following day, including grapefruit, oranges and limes. They will cut down on swelling and inflammation and the acid will stimulate digestion.
Overeating At a Party – Eat 10-15 grams of lean protein every 2 hours before attending an event to avoid overindulging at a party.
Salt Fix – Haylie Pomroy, the Metabolism Whisperer, says if you crave salt (especially at night) it is a big red flag that your thyroid is probably off. She recommends eating foods that are good diuretics like cabbage, cucumbers, cilantro, Asian pears and beets. Drinking dandelion leaf tea works as a natural diuretic to take away the bloating without causing dehydration.
