Dr Oz: Cheat Your Fast Food Meal into a Healthy Meal
Todd Wilbur of TopSecretRecipes.com is with Dr. Oz to share the way you can cheat one of everyone’s favorite fast food items, Domino’s Pizza. He has says the biggest challenge is creating a good dough for the crust because everyone can agree that the crust is one of the most important elements to a delicious pizza, right?
Dr Oz: Todd Wilbur’s Cheated Domino’s Cheese Pizza Recipe
Step 1: Make the Dough
- Here is what you need:
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 ½ Tablespoon Sugar
- ¾ teaspoon Yeast
- 1 ¼ Cups Bread Flour
- ¾ Cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
- ½ Cup Corn Meal for tossing
Here is what you need to do:
- In a small mixing glass combine the water, yeast, and sugar and stir to dissolve the yeast and sugar.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flours, oil, and salt.
- Pour the water mixture into the flour mixture and combine, kneading for about 5 minutes.
- Form the dough in a ball and roll it out on a floured countertop.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
Here is what you need:
- ½ Cup Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 Cup Tomato Puree
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- ½ teaspoon Vegetable Oil
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1/8 teaspoon Ground Pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/8 teaspoon Ground Oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon Dried Basil
- 1/8 teaspoon Dried Marjoram
- Pinch Cayenne Pepper
Here is what you need to do:
- Combine the tomato purée and the crushed tomatoes in a blender. Mix on medium speed for 30 about seconds. To a sauce pan add the tomato sauce along with the remaining ingredients and cook on medium heat. When it begins to bubble, reduce heat to low and cover, simmering for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool, then store in a covered container in the fridge until ready to make your pizza.
Step 3: Put it all together, add the cheese, and bake
Here is what you need to do:
- Preheat oven to 475 degrees
- Spread the sauce on the pizza crust
- Sprinkle 1 1/3 Cups Reduced-Fat Shredded Mozzarella Cheese over the sauce
- Bake for 8-9 minutes. Slice and enjoy!
Step 4: Garlic Butter Cheat
Brush on Crust:
- 2 teaspoons Melted Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Grated Parmesan
- ¼ teaspoon Dried Parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and spread on the crust right after removing the pizza from the oven.
