Dr Oz: Anthony Melchiorri Hotel Impossible
Anthony Melchiorri, host of the Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible, uncovered hotel scams that might leave you feeling a little unsure about making your next reservation. He told Dr. Oz that people do many different things in hotel beds, like love making, eating and sleeping so you never know what you might find when you check into your room. Anthony says he has found food, hair, urine and other bodily fluids while investigating various hotels. One of the most shocking things he ever found, though, was a two inch rusty nail, and he told Dr. Oz he is still puzzled as to how it could have gotten into a hotel bed.
Dr Oz: Are Hotel Drinking Glasses Clean?

Anthony Melchiorri says he prefers plastic wrapped plastic cups in hotels because glass ones are often not properly cleaned!
Anthony Melchiorri says he has found cleanliness issues in nearly every hotel room he has visited, and from California to New York it happens all the time. He believes it is not the employees’ fault, though, because he thinks the management is not giving them the best tools to properly clean the rooms. He shared some of the most common areas of a hotel room where there are cleanliness problems.
Carpet – Anthony Melchiorri says that while hotel carpets are often vacuumed they are rarely ever shampooed, which is a problem since people do a lot of different things on those floors, like exercise and even love making.
Glass – Anthony says he prefers plastic cups that are wrapped in plastic, even in a five star hotel, because he says the glasses are often not sent to the kitchen to be washed but instead are washed by the housekeeper who may have just finished scrubbing a bathtub or toilet bowl!
Remote Control – This is one of the dirtiest items in a hotel room because it often ends up in bed with the guest, or maybe on the floor, so Anthony Melchiorri says it is nice to see something a little different in certain hotels. He says he has seen cases of the remote being placed in a plastic sleeve or a small box with a note that states, “cleaned for your protection,” which is somewhat reassuring.
Throw Pillows – Anthony told Dr. Oz that throw pillows are his least favorite thing in a hotel room because they often get tossed around on the floor by guests, but then placed right on the bed pillow where you will be putting your head to sleep at night. Ideally, he prefers a room with no throw pillows.
Dr Oz: What Should You Do If a Hotel Does Not Respond To a Complaint?
Anthony Melchiorri says the most important thing to remember when complaining about a problem at a hotel is to be respectful. He says that a lot can go wrong in a hotel so bring your complaint to the supervisor or manager on duty and they will most likely fix the situation. They are in the business of hospitality and customer service so their goal is to make you comfortable so you will leave happy. Anthony did say, though, that if they do not handle your complaint well then you should go to the internet and find their social media pages. This is a good place to express your feelings while getting the attention of all their fans or followers. You spend a lot of money for a hotel room, so you deserve a clean space and professional treatment.
Dr Oz: Are Online Hotel Reviews Reliable?
Anthony Melchiorri told Dr. Oz that he has found about 90-95% of online hotel review sites to be accurate. He says the key is to look for descriptive words that are specific to the guest’s stay rather than generic terms, especially if there are several reviews with similar statements.
