Dr Oz: How to Take Aspirin During Heart Attack & Alka Seltzer Headache

Dr Oz: Chewing vs Swallowing Aspirin During Heart Attack

Dr. Oz revealed the one magic pill that has been around for many years and may even already be in your medicine cabinet. That power drug is Aspirin and Dr. Oz says there are even more ways it can improve your health, so he shared a few of them with his audience.

Take an Aspirin when you are having a Heart Attack, but the most important thing to remember is that you need to chew the Aspirin rather than swallow it. This is because when you chew an Aspirin it will literally reduce the size of a clot that is causing a blockage to your heart and could ultimately save your life. Dr. Oz says to chew it fast because it could be the difference between life and death.

Dr Oz: Symptoms of Heart Attack in Women

Dr. Oz says most heart attack symptoms are pretty straightforward, but he walked his guest Ella through them as a reminder for all of us.

Dr Oz: How to Take Aspirin During Heart Attack & Alka Seltzer Headache

Dr Oz says if you think you are having a heart attack you need to take (and chew, not swallow) an Aspirin right away because it could literally save your life!

  • Jaw or back pain
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pressure

Dr Oz: Best Way to Take Aspirin During Heart Attack

Dr. Oz says if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms you need to act fast.

  • Chew a 325 MG Aspirin (or 4 baby or “low-dose” Aspirin)
  • Make sure you take ‘regular’ Aspirin, not time-release or coated.
  • Call 9-1-1

Dr Oz: Where Should You Keep Your Aspirin?

Dr. Oz provided his audience with Heart Attack packets, which were simply small sealable plastic baggies with an Aspirin inside. He says to make a few of them and keep them where you might need them, for example:

  • Keep one in your nightstand – This is because the most common time people have heart attacks is in the morning within one hour of waking up.
  • Keep one in your desk at work
  • Keep one in the car glove compartment
  • Keep one in your purse

Do you have an Aspirin handy no matter where you might be in your day? If so, it could literally save your life!

Dr Oz: How to Prevent Upset Stomach When Taking Aspirin

Dr. Oz says there are many reasons people take Aspirin, but unfortunately it can cause stomach upset, so he recommends taking the Aspirin with a tall glass of warm water because it will help the pill to dissolve better than if the water was cold.

Dr Oz: Aspirin Cream Review

Dr. Oz says a good way to avoid upset stomach when taking Aspirin is by using an Aspirin Cream in areas where you have topical pain, like for muscle aches. Make sure you buy a cream that has Salicylate as an ingredient because that is another name for Aspirin and will be the most effective.

Dr Oz: Alka-Seltzer Headache Remedy

Many people get headaches and Dr. Oz says many of those people take Aspirin to treat their headaches, so he offered a new and better way to take Aspirin for your headache. Dr. Oz says if you “drink” your Aspirin it is the best way because it is a direct shot to your pain.

Effervescent Aspirin (Alka-Seltzer) – Dissolves much more rapidly than when you drop a regular Aspirin into a glass of water.
