Dr Oz: Tips to Prevent Thinning Hair

Dr. Oz says there are some everyday habits causing your hair to fall out, so he has solutions to help keep your locks on your head instead of swirling around the drain or on the floor.

Crash Dieting can lead to thinning hair because you are depriving your body of important nutrients needed for it to grow, so it is important eat the right foods. Dr. Oz says to never skimp on protein, even when dieting, to keep your healthy. Get 46 grams per day from various sources, including beans and lean meats.
Dr Oz: Should You Wash Your Hair with Hot Water?
When you shower, do you like the water to be extremely hot or do you lean more toward lukewarm? Dr. Oz says if you like a hot shower, it could be causing your hair to fall out. Normally your air is flexible due to natural oils, but washing it with hot water can lead to those important oils being stripped causing your hair to become brittle and thin.
Take a hot shower, but when you condition your hair turn the temperature down just a little bit to prevent damage.
Dr Oz: Ponytail to Prevent Hair Loss
If you are like many women, it is often easier to pull your hair back into a ponytail than to take the time needed to “fix” it every day, but this behavior could be causing your hair to thin and fall out. Hairstylist Nunzio Saviano says there is an easy alternative that still gets your hair out of your face without causing the damage of a tight ponytail.
- Pull your back and into a low ponytail.
- Twist the hair and literally tie it into a knot.
- Use bobby pins to secure any loose hair.
