Dr Oz: Sleep Secrets From Egypt, India & Greece
In this segment, Dr Oz introduced Terri Trespicio, the Senior Editor at Whole Living Magazine. Dr Oz gave all audience members a passport (fake, of course) with a country stamped inside. When Dr Oz called down a particular country, that audience member was to come down to the stage to find out that Country’s Ancient Sleep Secret.
Dr Oz: Buckwheat Pillow
Egypt is the first country called. Audience member, Marion, came down. She told Terri and Dr Oz that she only got 3-4 hours of sleep per night and would love to know Egypt’s Sleep Secret.
Egypt Sleep Secret: Buckwheat Pillow – This pillow helps to support the spine and to relieve tension. The buckwheat pillow sells for $30 online or any home store. Doctor Oz gave the pillow to Marion as a parting gift.
Dr Oz: Acupressure Mat
India is the second country called. Audience member, Mandy, came down. She told Dr Oz and Terri that she only got 2-4 hours of sleep per night on average.
India Sleep Secret: Acupressure Mat – According to Terri, this is an updated version of the bed of nails. (Ouch!) Dr Oz, Terri, and Mandy all give it a go. They laid down on the mat and according to them, it felt good. The spikes stimulate acupressure points and release endorphins. Acupressure mats are available online or in stores for $50.
Dr Oz: Valerian Root
Greece is the last country called. Audience member, Cindy, came down. Cindy stated that she sleeps about 5 hours per night because of chronic pain.
Greece Sleep Secret: Valerian Root – Take 500mg an hour before bed for a calming effect. You can also use the tea version. Terri stated that it stinks like “socks and bad cheese.” (That’s a good selling point, for ya!) They gave Cindy the tea to try out and she actually liked it. You can purchase Valerian Root online or in stores for $10.
