Dr Oz: Anti Aging in Your 50’s: Fillers, Ceramides & Mega Moisturizers

Doctor Oz did a segment on Anti-Aging advice for people in their 50’s.  What should women in their 50’s avoid, buy and consider?  By your 50’s, your kids are grown and out of your house, and women often start to think about themselves.  You can still reverse some of the damage from over the years, it is not too late!  In your 50’s, you lose estrogen, your pores become more prominent, expression lines remain on  your face, spider veins and age spots appear, you dream of losing weight from your body but you lose it from your face instead.  Dr. Susan Taylor joined Dr Oz and said that aging is normal, we just have to decide how we want age gracefully.  Doctor Oz: Fillers & Ceramides

What to Avoid in Your 50’s: Combo Creams

Dr Taylor told Dr Oz that we should not buy into all of the hype and that we should avoid combo creams, which can cause redness and irritation.  In fact, by using many products, the ingredients can actually negate each other.  You need one in the morning with SPF 30 and one in the evening that is a bit stronger for combating skin problems.

What to Buy in Your 50’s: Ceramides & Mega Moisturizers

Dr Taylor said that we should look for mega moisturizers, which are creams that contain Ceramides, which help to improve your skin barrier protection and adds moisture to your skin.

What to Consider in Your 50’s: Fillers

Dr Taylor told Dr Oz that fillers are quick, easy and help replace and restructure your skin.  In just 20 minutes, the dermatologist can make you look 10 years younger and it can last 6 months.  When you get a filler treatment, the doctor first puts on a topical numbing medication and then an itsy bitsy needle is used to fill in the parentheses… but it does not hurt at all.  Dr Taylor gave Fillers to a lady in Dr Oz’s audience before the show, and the “before” and “after” was really quite impressive!

Gayle, I am not a dermatologist, so I cannot give an official answer… however, when I went to the dermatologist a few weeks ago, he gave me a sample of CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (which has ceramides) and I have been really loving it. You can read all of the amazing reviews here too: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. Does anyone else have any other favorite moisturizers with ceramides?

I can’t find any kind of Mega moisturizer here in Canada but I am close to the border and am able to visit Ogdensburg NY and Messina often. Can you tell me what drug store I could find this at and provide the brand name please?

I second the suggestion to try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, which has ceramides. I absolutely love it and Marie, I’m sure you can buy it through that link even in Canada.

I pulled up the CeraVe website and found it to be surprisingly inexpensive. a 16oz. jar is only $15.79.
I have never seen any mosisturizers in the Ohio area with ceramides so I guess the best way is to order it online.

I just read a bunch of the ads and websites that included magazine reviews and ratings (I guess I believe that). The ceramide creams included: 1) Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect, both their Ultra Lift Cream (mentioned first), and their Moisture Cream; 2) Biore Dual Fusion +SPF 30 Cream; 3) El Solutions Biotherapy Bio-Natural Cream; and 4) CeraVe Moisturizing Cream mentioned above. The ingredients were not included but all were listed as moisturizers containing ceramides.

Good Day, following this advise, I have been unable to find a cream that contains Ceramides.
Would you be able to let me know where to look for such a cream.
    Thank you.

Injecting substances into the skin and calling that Anti Aging is very typical of the American way of doing things. It is just as bad a taking a pill to treat a symptom and not dealing with the root of the problem. Anti Aging should focus on holistic practices and Longevity!!

CeraVE actually list ceramides as ingredients.
Other lotions I have looked at say they have them , but can’t be found on the list of ingredients!

Cerimides at Elizabeth Arden has a full line of Cerimides from cleansers, toners, cerimides face and eye capsules and moisturizers. You’ll love them and you’re right it does make your skin amazingly soft. I get mine at SEARS.

I have been using Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramides for years and my skin has definitly improved. The Ceramide Capsules for face and throat are great for improving moisture and can be used on sensitive skin. I have recently started using the capsules for eyes and it has helped with puffiness and dryness. There are no preservatives in the capsules which is why I started using them.

Any suggestion like maybe if I mix the two.
