Dr Oz: Anti-Ovarian Cancer Recipe
Dr Oz did a segment with Dr William Li to teach us how to incorporate all of the ingredients in the Anti-Ovarian Cancer Diet into a healthy and delicious meal. Dr Li taught Doctor Oz (and the rest of us too!) how to make a steamed Branzino Sea Bass with a lemon Mediterranean sauce, topped with an endive salad. Sounds like something you would see on the menu at a very nice restaurant, don’t you think? The best thing is that Dr Li said that all of the ingredients help to protect us against Ovarian Cancer. Even the tomatoes, garlic, capers, lemon and turmeric are great cancer fighters!
Dr Oz: Branzino Sea Bass Recipe
Dr William Li started to cook the meal by placing a bamboo steamer on top of a pot of boiling water. Then he placed the Branzino Sea Bass into the steamer and topped it with some olive oil. He said that the fish cooks quickly and should be done in about 5-7 minutes. Also, if you do not have a bamboo steamer, any steamer can work.
Meanwhile, while the fish is steaming, you make the Lemon Mediterranean Sauce by heating some olive oil in a pan and sauteing the garlic and red onion for about 3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent and soft. Next, you add the tomatoes to the sauce. Dr Li told Doctor Oz that tomatoes have Lycopene which helps to fight cancer, and the Lycopene levels in tomatoes actually increase for about five days after they are picked off of the vine. So no need to use your tomatoes as soon as you pick them! Next, he added capers to the sauce, which have the same Cancer Fighting ingredients as endive. And he finished off the sauce with lemon juice and turmeric.
Dr William Li’s final step was to make the Endive Salad. He cut off bite size pieces and had Dr Oz taste it. Endive apparently tastes crunchy and somewhat like a mild cabbage. Then, Dr Li dressed the Endive Salad with some olive oil, lemon juice and salt.
Dr Oz and Dr Li plated the dish by placing the steamed fish down first, then then spooned the sauce on top of the fish and finished it off by placing a handful of the endive salad on top. Laura, a lady from Doctor Oz’s audience, tasted it and said it was delicious! Click here for the full recipe: Dr Oz: Sea Bass & Endive Salad Recipe.
