Doctor Oz gave some fabulous Beauty Secrets from Around the World. These natural home remedies come from the Dominican Republic (DR), Spain and Chile. Let’s learn how to make a Pantry Spa out of ingredients from our kitchen pantry! Dr Oz said that having a Turkish mother, and American daughters and a wife, he knows that women from all around the world want to look good. Dr. Oz was joined by Shalini Vadhera, author of Passport to Beauty: Secrets and Tips from Around the World for Becoming a Global Goddess, to teach us a Nail Strengthening Home Remedy, a Shiny Highlighted Hair Home Remedy, and a Skin Brightening Face Mask.
Dominican Republic – Garlic Strengthens Nails
Dr Oz’s beauty home remedy for strengthening your nails is garlic, which is what they use in the DR. Shalini Vadhera says to add chopped garlic to a bottle of clear nail polish and to let it stew for 7 to 10 days. Then when you paint your nails, they will be harder than acrylic nails!
Spain – Cranberry Juice Adds Shine & Highlights to Hair
Dr Oz’s natural beauty secret for adding shine and highlights to your hair comes from Spain and is cranberry juice! Cranberry juice has pigments and a little bit of acidity that help increase the shininess of your hair. The acidic pH of cranberry juice from the fruit acids also help to lighten your hair, just like they lighten skin pigments. You can spray cranberry juice in your hair before you lie in the sun, but if you are blond, use lemon juice – otherwise you will end up with pink hair!
Chile – Brighten Your Skin with Grapes & Flour
Dr Oz’s natural home remedy from Chile for brightening your skin is to make a face mask out of grapes and flour. This face mask is great for fatigued skin. Crush some red grapes with a few tablespoons of flour until a paste is formed. Apply the face mask and leave it on for 10 minutes.
