The tag on a pair of jeans can tell you what the fabric is made of. If you see a pair of jeans that is 99% cotton and 1% spandex, it’s for a woman who carries a lot of weight in their hips. So if you’re an estrogen body type, you want that 1% because it provides just the right amount of stretch to get them over your hips, without causing that “dreaded gaping” at the back that can reveal your backside.
If you’re a stress body type, you may want to go for a pair of jeans with 1-2% spandex, because it’s a better fabric for women with a bit of a tummy. Finally, if you’re a sugar body type, you’ll want to go for jeans with 3-4% spandex, because that elasticity will help with excess fat around your tummy and your love handles.
Dr Oz: Finding Jeans For Your Body Type
Denise randomly selected three women from the audience to represent different body types, and show how she could make each of them look 10 pounds thinner. For the stress body type, Denise selected a fitted pair of jeans with a little flair at the bottom. She chose a mid-rise pair as well because it hits right in the middle of the problem area to help hide tummy fat.
If you’re a sugar type and store fat as love handles, Denise suggested a skinny jean with a high waist. The key is the high waist and a voluminous top to hide your love handles! If you’re the strogen type with fat around your hips, butt, and thighs, try a “girlfriend” jean that provides a little stretch while hugging your body without being too tight.
