The number one skin condition that people ask Dr. Oz about is cellulite… so Dr. Oz discussed what cellulite therapies work and which won’t help, so we won’t waste our money! This is a must read for anyone trying to fight cellulite! Susan from New York (seat 64) was the wonderful assistant of the day.
What is cellulite (that cottage cheese looking puckered skin)? And why is it on our upper arms, buttocks and thighs? Dr. oz did a demonstration where he showed a layer of cloth “skin” and when you push little balls under the layer of skin, this is like what the fat cells do under your skin… so your skin gets puckered as the fat cells torture your skin. So how do we treat cellulite?
Dr. Oz’s Cellulite Treatment Review (From Least to Most Effective):
1. Liposuction for Cellulite
Liposuction melts fat as it sucks the fat out. However, when you destroy fat cells, they quickly regrow where they came from… so this does not permanently get rid of cellulite.
2. Cellulite Creams
Cellulite creams are sold all over the web, but there are absolutely no studies that show they are effective at all.
3. Massages for Cellulite – “Who is Your Daddy” Therapy
There are many forms of massage, Personal Massagers to professional etymology (which Dr. Oz calls the who’s your daddy therapy since you are basically just beating up your tissue). Your tissue swells from these massages, so your cellulite becomes less visible temporarily, but when the swelling goes down, the cellulite comes back. I am thinking this may be a good option for that wedding or high school reunion around the corner as a quick fix!
4. Lasers for Cellulite Removal
The lasers for cellulite removal work by rolling little balls over your skin. You will feel a little heat and it might break up some of your fat cells, but again this is not a permanent solution and this is a very expensive option for the minimal and temporary result you will get.
5. The #1 Cellulite Buster – Diet & Exercise
The most effective way to get rid of cellulite is to tone that part of your body with exercise. Build muscles in your thighs to get rid of cellulite on your thighs. You can do an exercise where you hold weights in your hands, put your feet shoulder width apart with your toes pointing out, and stoop down to the right (like you are going to the bathroom) and then to the left. Repeat 20 times.
