Dr Oz: 28 Day High School Reunion Diet Plan
Like many, Justine, Tamika, and Chane had all gained at least 25-50 lbs since graduating high school. Since gaining weight, each of the women had lost their confidence but, more importantly, they had been putting their health in jeopardy. Dr Oz spoke with each woman to find out her biggest issues regarding her weight gain.
Justine: Justine was the class clown and in excellent shape. She was never super thin but she felt good. After she had kids, she gained 40-50 lbs. She went on several diets in the past and lost weight but gained it all back again. She feels as though her younger self would ask, “What happened to you?”
Tamika: Tamika was the jock. She was small and wore a size 4. Now she wears 14. After high school, she joined a police department. In 2003, she was injured in the line of duty. Since then, Tamika went from a vibrant individual to someone that was confined to her home.
Chane: Chane was considered the nerd. She weighed 130lbs in high school and now hovers around the 300 lb. mark. Chane felt like she let herself down. She lost the weight, but after children, she had gained it all back. She’s not a big eater, but just can’t seem to get the nutrition right, plus, she sits at work all day. She has not been on the scale in years and is even embarrassed to get onto the elevator with anyone because she’s always sweating and out of breath.
All three ladies are planning on attending their 25th High School Reunion and they want to WOW! their old classmates.
Dr Oz believed that they’re all still eating like teenagers with only minor modifications. As we age, we need to be smarter with the food we eat because our metabolisms have changed so much and we keep the same eating habits.
Dr Oz: Truth Tube Results
Dr Oz headed over to the truth tube for the results for each woman. He then looked into each woman’s food diary.
Tamika:
Weight Then: 105 lbs; Weight Now: 184 lbs
Waist Then: 27 inches; Waist Now: 35 inches
BMI: 30
Food diary: Tamika cannot exercise because she’s injured, but Dr Oz suggested that she needed to get some form of physical activity. Tamika eats well with veggies, fruits, and lean proteins, but the lack of exercise is the main issue.
Dr Oz Grade: C+
Chane:
Weight Then: 130 lbs; Weight Now: 271 lbs
Waist Then: 25 inches; Waist Now: 51 inches
BMI: 45 (morbid obese range)
Food diary: Chane has awful eating habits. She needs to, at the very least, start walking.
Dr Oz Grade: D
Justine:
Weight Then: 135 lbs; Weight Now: 172 lbs
Waist Then: 30 inches; Waist Now: 40 inches
BMI: 29
Dr Oz Grade: D (Even though her numbers were not as bad, Dr Oz is concerned about her health.)
Dr Oz’s 28 Day High School Reunion Plan
Week One-Chemistry: Eliminate added sugars
– Corn syrup
– Dextrose sucrose
– Fructose
Week Two-Geography: Spices from around the world. Use spices to zest up your dishes.
– Cayenne pepper
– Oregano
Week Three- Art: Develop a natural eye for colors of the rainbows and eat them!
– Bright reds, such as apples
– Oranges
– Squash
Week Four-Gym: Get more muscle with magnesium
– Cashews
Dr Oz had the women stand tall and lift the right foot. This simple form of exercise helps build core muscles and balance. For extra credit, eat a cashew while doing the exercise.
