Doctor Oz brought The Kitchen Diva, Angela Shelf Medearis, on the Dr Oz show again. The Kitchen Diva is no stranger to Dr Oz’s show, like her previous segment on a Lemon Chicken Recipe. This time though, the Kitchen Diva taught Dr Oz some great recipes like Pecan Crusted Tilapia and other Buttermilk Recipes, since the secret ingredient of the day was buttermilk.
I always assumed that buttermilk was bad for you, but apparently buttermilk has no butter in it and is in fact the skim milk that is left after you remove the cream. Buttermilk is great for your digestive system because it has similar probiotics like yogurt. Medearis said that buttermilk is even ok for people who are lactose intolerance! Buttermilk has a sort of tart lemon-ish taste, and is great for pan frying or oven frying because it coats your food well. Buttermilk is also a great lower fat and diet substitution for sour cream or full fat mayonnaise.
