Dr Oz: Miracle Mindset
After speaking with JJ Virgin about the “Miracle Mindset” Dr Oz wanted to continue his discussion about whether it’s possible to will a miracle to happen. Before the show, he set up a social experiment to find out if a miracle mindset can really help you transform your thoughts and your emotional health. Backstage, he showed sisters Debbie and Phyllis videos with music. Debbie saw and heard negative things, while Phyllis was showed positive ones.
Next, they were asked to circle the emotion they most strongly felt. Not too surprisingly, Phyllis circled happiness while Debbie circled sadness. They then had to write down a list of things they would like to get done. How did they do?

Debbie’s list showed that she wanted to do things like be by herself, go to the beach, kiss someone she loves, relax, and feel safe. Debbie explained that the video showed her a place she’s been before and didn’t want to go back to.
As for Phyllis’ list, her’s included things like go on vacation, go to the beach, dance, get together with friends, have fun, and be outside in nice weather.
Dr Oz then explained that positivity can change your mindset and allow you to think bigger and more. When your brain is exposed to negativity, it starts to “close down” and narrow your mind. You can only see what’s right in front of you. When you’re surrounded with positivity, suddenly you see a variety of possibilities. That’s precisely what JJ did with her son.
Dr Oz: How To Develop A Positive Mindset
To switch from negative thoughts to positive thoughts, JJ shared that she writes down three things she’s grateful for every single morning. Then, practice appreciation. JJ did this by pulling out her phone and texting someone what she appreciated about them.
It’s also important to focus on the “wins” or the good things that happened each day. There are positives in every single day.
