Dr Oz: Morning Latte Energy Booster
Audience member Lisa said she suffers from energy dips throughout the day. Did you know our groggiest time of the day is within 30 minutes of waking up? That sounds right to me.
Lisa said she uses coffee first thing in the morning, with cream and Splenda. Sometimes she tries flavored coffee instead.

Dr Oz shared energy boosting advice for the times of day we need it most, such as a morning latte energy boost, afternoon aromatherapy and magnesium.
Dr Oz recommended a small change to jump start your day. His advice was to drink a latte instead of regular coffee. The protein in the milk can make a difference. Make it at home by adding 1/2 cup of milk to your coffee.
Dr Oz: Aromatherapy for Afternoon Slump
When else do you start to drag during the day? A lot of people have trouble in the afternoon. Most of the audience agreed that they feel that Afternoon Slump daily around 3 p.m.
This even affects people working in medicine, so maybe that’s not a great time of day to schedule surgery! The body’s circadian rhythm goes in eight-hour increments. Eight hours after you wake up, your body will start to slow down.
Your body temperature starts to drop, and you may struggle to complete simple tasks. To counteract the afternoon slump, use aromatherapy. Try a diffuser, wick, or spritzer to use sense to reawaken yourself. Dr Oz recommended a citrus or peppermint scent.
Dr Oz: Magnesium Energy Boost
What’s another time you start to have an energy slump? Most people have problems after dinner with staying awake. That’s why Dr Oz thinks you should have dessert 20 minutes after dinner.
But the catch is you want to incorporate Magnesium into your dessert. Most of us aren’t getting enough, and you can mix it in by adding Cinnamon, Bananas, or Peanut Butter with your sweet treat. This will boost your energy going into the next day!
Dr Oz + Cookie Monster: “Me Want It”
While we are on the subject of dessert, who wants a cookie? Cookie Monster dropped by from Sesame Street, inviting Dr Oz to make a house call. Dr Oz rudely teased Cookie Monster, waving cookies in front of his face to tempt him. This is also the theme of Cookie Monster’s new music video, “Me Want It But Me Wait,” about self-control and managing your portions.
Before you listen, be warned that the song may get stuck in your head! At least the message is a good thing to remember. You can also check out the new C is for Cooking DVD or watch Sesame Street weekdays on PBS.
