Doctor Oz played a game called “Flat or Fat?” to teach us which foods are summer tummy flattening foods and which are fattening foods. I love Dr Oz’s new term MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids)!
Summer Tummy Flattening or Fattening Foods
Tummy Flattening or Fattening Food #1: Pesto
Pesto is tummy flattening, because it has pine nuts and olive oil, both of which have MUFA’s (monounsaturated fatty acids)!
Tummy Flattening or Fattening Food #2: Salsa
Salsa is tummy fattening, because it is loaded with sodium which makes you bloated. Instead, Dr Oz suggested chopping up fresh vegetables.
Tummy Flattening or Fattening Food #3: Popsicle
Popsicles are tummy fattening, because they are have high fructose corny syrup and other artificial colorings usually. Instead, do what my mother always did for us – freeze grapes. I wonder what Dr Oz thinks about the popsicles that are made only of fresh fruits… I’m not sure I agree with the blanket statement that all popsicles are fattening.
Tummy Flattening or Fattening Food #4: Olives
Olives are tummy flattening because they are high in MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids) and help to lower cholesterol.
