Dr. Oz had Paula Deen, the Bag Lady, on his Celebrity Edition of Ask Dr. Oz. Paula said that her favorite pie is pecan pie and she wanted to know what makes pecans and nuts so healthy for us?
Dr. Oz said that a handful of pecans lowers our cholesterol and reduces our risk of heart attacks. However, walnuts have 6 times more of the healthy omega fats that lubricate our joints and help our brain, plus walnuts have more protein and less sugar than pecans. So next time, try making a walnut pie recipe instead of a pecan pie!
