Dr Oz: Purslane Recipe
Dr Oz did another segment on Anti-Aging Beauty Secrets from around the world. His first Beauty Secret comes from Turkey – Doctor Oz’s home country – which is of course located between Asia and Europe. Purslane is a vegetable that Dr Oz’s parents always loved, and it is great for rejuvenating your skin because it is rich in Vitamins A, C, E and CoQ10. The enzymes found in Purslane help to protect your skin. Dr Oz said that the way his family likes to eat Purslane is by mixing it with yogurt and garlic. I looked high and low for Dr Oz’s Purslane Recipe though and I could not find it, so I will just have to experiment with it! If anyone is interested, post a comment below and I’ll keep you updated with what I figure out. Or if you have a tried-and-true Purslane Recipe, please share it in the comment section below!
Dr Oz: Macadamia Nut Oil for Hair
Doctor Oz said that Macadamia Nut Oil is used in Australia for massaging into your scalp if you have dry hair or a flaky scalp. Palmitoleic Acid is found in Macadamia Nut Oil, which is a fat that is naturally found in your skin. Plus, it smells great, you only need to use a little, and a huge bottle costs only around $12.
Dr Oz: Noni Juice
Dr Oz said that Noni Juice is popular in Hawaii, and is becoming more widely available throughout America. The Polynesians use Noni Juice for its very powerful anti-aging properties that help you to feel younger and to make your skin glow. Plus, Noni Juice helps to lower inflammation throughout your body. Dr Oz’s helper said it tastes like a mix between prune juice and castor oil, but that it is definitely tolerable. In case you are interested, I tested out a drink that contained Noni Juice and reviewed it here: ZOOM Organic Zoe Review.
In addition to the above three Anti-Aging Beauty Secrets that Dr Oz covered on today’s show, he also wrote an article encouraging us to use the following ingredients from around the world. Plus, you can visit this website for tons of great Natural Home Remedies.
Dr Oz: Irish Moss
Irish Moss can help to remove dark lines and is often used by people in Ireland (hence the name Irish Moss I suppose!). It is a brown algae that has tons of Vitamin K, which is crucial for your skin. The only problem is that it can be rather salty, so you should put Dried Irish Moss in water to soak for a while to help remove the salt. Then you can add it to your favorite smoothie recipe.
Dr Oz: Sea Asparagus
Sea Asparagus contains Vitamin A and Folic Acid, which are crucial for repairing your skin. Sea Asparagus is often used in Hawaii and tastes great in stir-fry recipes. Even though it sounds a bit like an algae, it is related to spinach and beets!
Dr Oz: Dragon Fruit
Dragon Fruit had a red colored skin, but is white with lots of tiny black seeds on the inside. Dragon Fruit comes from Mexico where the sweet fruit grows on cactus plants. The red color in its skin comes from lycopene, the same thing that makes tomatoes have a red color. Lycopene helps to protect your skin against damage from the sun.
Dr Oz: Sea Cucumber
Sea Cucumber is actually not a vegetable, despite its name, it is a sea animal! In Japan they eat Sea Cucumbers to keep their skin looking young, because they have lots of Vitamin A and healthy proteins. You can purchase dried Sea Cucumber and rehydrate it by soaking it in some water. Then add Sea Cucumber to your next stir-fry.
Dr Oz: Club Soda for Frizzy Hair
In the Dominican Republic, women use Club Soda to eliminate Frizzy Hair. Club Soda contains sodium bicarbonate, which removes residue that is left in your hair from hair styling products. After you wash your hair, do a final rinse with Club Soda, and you will be surprised at how frizz-free your hair becomes! Click here for the full home remedy: Club Soda Hair Rinse.
Dr Oz: Grapes for Skin
In Italy, they use grapes to keep their skin glowing because of the Resveratrol found in grapes. You can make a great scrub out of smashed up grapes that will get rid of dry skin and leave you glowing. Here is the full Home Remedy for a Grape Scrub!
