Doctor Oz did a show focused on the power of intuition. Have you ever had a hunch, gut feeling, sixth sense or sneaky suspicion about something? Sometimes this intuition can be more powerful than rational thinking. Dr. Oz mentioned stories like a mom who wakes up in the middle of the night because of an intuition and finds her child in trouble, and a nurse who has an intuition that her patient is in trouble before the lab results are in. A woman named Susan knew that she had cancer years before she was diagnosed and an emergency responder to hurricane Katrina was able to use his intuition to sense a trapped man in an area that had been searched many times. So how can we use our intuition to help us find the best relationships and guide our lives? Char Margolis, author of Discover Your Inner Wisdom: Using Intuition, Logic, and Common Sense to Make Your Best Choices, and Judith Orloff, author of Second Sight: An Intuitive Psychiatrist Tells Her Extraordinary Story and Shows You How To Tap Your Own Inner Wisdom
, joined Dr. Oz to talk about the power of intuition. Judith Orloff works as a medical intuitive and uses all of her senses along with medical tests to form her diagnoses.
How Does Intuition Work?
Dr. Oz says that our brains are very good at storing past experiences, so that when we have a new experience, our brain quickly tries to match it to our past experience to “cut to the chase.” So the more experiences we have, the faster we can “cut to the chase”… maybe this is why older people are more wise!
The concept of a “gut feeling” comes from that feeling we get in our stomach when our intuition triggers us to know something. The reason for this “gut feeling” is because we have a complex network of nerves in our stomach that the brain can trigger.
The 4 C’s of Intuition
1. Courage
You have to have the courage to believe in the power of intuition.
2. Confidence
You have to have the confidence to go with your intuition.
3. Commitment
You need the commitment to stick with it.
4. Conquer It
Once you conquer it, you have to act upon it.
How To Interpret Your Intuition’s Messages:
The following are some signs that your intuition can send to you:
1. Intuition for Emotional & Physical Symptoms
The old saying that you should “listen to what your body is saying” comes into play with intuition making sense of your emotional or physical issues. If you pay close attention to your intuition, it may give you hints about a disease so that you can catch a disease early. Your intuition can also guide you regarding medical treatments, the right foods to be eating and overall the best decisions for your health.
2. Intuition to Get an Accurate Diagnosis
Does your doctor make eye contact and really pay attention to you when he is in the room with you? If your doctor is one of the many doctors that move quickly and rarely seem to connect with you, then they cannot get a sense of intuition to help treat you. Intuition can help doctors make a good diagnosis, in addition of course to lab results and physical exams, etc.
3. Intuition Points You to a Positive Relationship
We have all met people who suck the life out of us (these people can make you sick!!!) and of course there are other people who add lots of happiness and good health to our lives. You should use your intuition to cut out people who are draining the life out of you. You should pay attention to your body language when you are around certain people. If you cross your arms, feel a loss of energy, take a few steps back, or make your legs cross towards the door when you are around certain people… you should remove these people from your life. On the other hand, if there are people that give you extra energy whenever you are around them or that you lean in towards when they speak or who make your eyes widen when they speak, these are people that you should be around on a regular basis.
I’m sure that everyone has some fun and interesting intuition stories, so don’t forget to share them in the comment section below!
