Dr. Oz played a game with two people in his audience called the Salt Hi / Lo Game! Which food in each pair has more salt and which food has less salt.
It is ironic that a mineral as essential as water and air (salt) is also extremely dangerous if you have high doses of it… but I digress… here are the food pairs, decide which has the most salt and then scroll down to see if you are right:
1. Bran or Egg
2. Baked Chips or Regular Chips
3. Hummus or Guacamole
And the answers are:
1. Bran has more salt in it than an egg!
2. Baked chips have more salt than regular chips. As a general rule, low fat processed foods have more salt usually to make them have a taste since there is little fat in them.
3. Humus has more salt than guacamole.
Dr. Oz gave a great tip for how to replace salt… try lime juice or garlic powder instead of salt!
