Dr Oz: Has Your Scale Stopped Moving?
Dr Oz knows that nothing can throw you off emotionally like the scale. Chris Powell joined the show, explaining that sometimes you’re doing everything right but the scale just won’t seem to budge or will even go up. The good news is that there can be a lot of reasons why. One woman has lost 13 pounds on the Day-Off Diet but her weight has since stayed the same and she feels stuck.
Chris began by saying there’s a chance you could be weighing yourself too often because weight loss happens slowly. Water weight goes away fast but can come back fast as well. When you step on the scale, make sure it’s at the same time of day on the same day of the week, and wear the same clothing while using the same scale. On the Day-Off Diet, you should weight yourself the morning of your day off because at that point you’ll be closest to your true body weight.
Dr Oz: Eat In The Right Order + Psyllium Fiber
Another surprising reason the scale isn’t budging could be because you’re not eating the right foods in the right order. You want to eat proteins and fat first to slow down digestion, then eat your carbohydrates because you’ll be less likely to overeat them.
The scale could also be stuck because you’re not pooping every day. Extra poop in your body can add weight. You have 28 feet of intestines wrapped up and squeezed inside of you, and that weight won’t disappear immediately unless you go about it the right way. Chris suggested one teaspoon of psyllium fiber, one or two times a day with eight ounces of water.
Dr Oz: Does Fruit Make You Fat?
Dr Oz then brought in Heidi Powell to join her husband to answer burning questions about diet, weight loss, and everything in between. First, a young woman wondered if fruit could make her fat and Chris explained that fruit is still made up of calories so if you overdo it, yes! Eat it in moderation and eat all different kinds to get the benefits of them. He suggested focusing on fruits high in fiber and low in sugar because your body will be less likely to store them as fat.
Dr Oz: Period-Related Weight Gain
One woman wondered how to deal with eating around her period because of bloating. Heidi explained that all women gain weight around their periods, as much as ten pounds depending on who you are. It’s completely normal so just wait it out and give it 5-7 days and your weight will come right back down.
Another woman wondered how you can be sure to keep weight off after it’s lost. Heidi suggested you set a new goal other than a specific weight, as well as have a plan, and keep doing something that satisfies you!
Dr Oz: Male VS Female Brain
Dr Oz revealed that researchers from Tel Aviv University found that the brain structures of men and women are actually the same. They compared the results to an American study using MRIs and they found that men and women viewed gambling the same. As for housework and gold, there was no difference. But when it came to cosmetics, men and women think about them the same. So what does this mean? There’s very little difference between the male and female brain.
