Charlamagne Tha God is the go-to radio host when it comes to the latest news in the hip hop community. His outspoken sessions can be heard on iHeart Radio’s The Breakfast Club. But to make a change, he enrolled in night school and interned at a local radio station. He went on to land rolls on TV and in movies, and eventually a host on MTV 2. But he’s still known as a hip hop star known for his honesty and authenticity. He was excited to sit down with Dr Oz to open up about staying healthy and facing controversy.
Dr Oz: Charlamagne Skin Condition & Bleaching Rumors
Charlamagne joined Dr Oz looking more dressed up than we’re used to seeing, as Dr Oz asked him about his ability to be brutally honest, no matter who he’s talking to. Charlamagne admitted that he didn’t know there was any other way to be, because as a human being we should all just tell the truth. He joked that he doesn’t have time to remember anything he would lie about.
Charlamagne also shared that there was a period of time where he was going out and drinking too much, then coming in early to work, and ended up in the hospital with dehydration and exhaustion. He met Dr Natasha Sandy at a party who bluntly told him she could help him with the hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration on his face. Through her, he learned about fixing himself from the inside out, taking care of his health starting with what he was eating. He managed to lose 30 pounds and turn his health around for the better.
However, he has been accused of bleaching his skin, but the truth is that he just has a more even skin tone now that he’s been taking better care of himself.
Dr Oz: Skin Care For Hyperpigmentation
Charlamagne stressed the importance of loving the skin you’re in. Dr Natashy Sandy actually joined Dr Oz to talk more about hyperpigmentation, the condition Charlamagne was suffering from. She supported the fact that Charlamagne did not bleach his skin. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by disease or injury, acne, dry skin, or inflammation. It can even happen when you don’t protect your skin from the sun. It commonly occurs on the face.
To treat the condition, Dr Sandy wanted to treat Charlamagne from the inside out, first by reducing sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. A difference was already noticeable after a week. She also recommended that you always wear sunscreen with zinc oxide, every day, no matter what your skin tone. It also helps to undergo chemical peels or use a retinoid cream to achieve a more even skin tone.
Charlamagne also stressed the importance of getting enough sleep every night, which means at least six hours a night for him. He had to shut off social media before bed time to help him calm down enough to sleep. He then agreed to take part in Dr Oz’s Regimen!
