Dr Oz: NY Med Reunion Finale
This episode featured a fun and informative reunion with the real life stars of ABC’s medical reality series NY Med. Check out the show’s biggest bloopers, regrets and fan letters.
To wrap up the fun, Dr Oz showed some unaired footage you didn’t see on the show, complete with reaction shots from the cast as they saw it on the set. In one prank, a doctor tried to shock her colleague by drinking apple juice out of a urine specimen cup.
Dr Oz: NY Med Bloopers and Outtakes
Elsewhere, Dr Sebastian played with a paper doll version of himself. And another doctor felt he was being hazed by the nurses on his last day. They put his picture up all over the department, even taping copies to people’s shirts and pants. The doctor was embarrassed when he realized what was going on.
Then it was on to the show’s blooper reel. It seems like the hospital is not the place to make flubs, and there shouldn’t be too many bloopers or outtakes from an unscripted show on which they claim there were no retakes. In fact, it was mostly weird looks, giggle fits, and strange faces. Several interview shots were interrupted by hospital transport staff.
Dr Oz: NY Med Regrets?
Finally, Dr Oz asked the NY Med cast if they had any regrets about their time and experiences on the show.
Nurse Katie had a definitive no. “Whenever you’re 100% yourself, you don’t have anything to regret, ‘cause you should be confident in who you are and what you say,” she said.
Dr Sebastian said that the editing portrayed him in a flattering light. Dr Watkins said some of it looks silly when you’re not sleep deprived. But they agreed that they forgot the cameras were around after awhile.
Dr Oz: NY Med Update – Baby Joey
A baby had heart surgery on the show, and Dr Oz met his parents and surgeon. The kid is now doing much better, and looks to be about two years old. His surgeon reported that his patient is in great shape and developing normally.
Dr Oz: NY Med Fan Mail
Of course anyone who is on TV is going to get some fan mail (and plenty of criticism). Dr Oz had the team share the fan letters they think were the funniest.
Dr Anthony said his Michael Jackson kick was popular with fans. He demonstrated the move to the cheers and applause of the audience. Dr Oz’s attempt to replicate it was pretty pathetic, but at least he gave it a good try.
Dr Sebastian got a fan message on Facebook offering her phone number in case he wanted to text her. And finally, Dr Diana got the craziest letter at the hospital.
“I love the way you handle yourself with patients, doctors, and as a lady. I wish you lived in New York,” she read, saying the letter went on with more compliments and included a self-addressed, stamped envelope in case she wanted to reply.
Dr Oz said he was grateful to be a part of the New York Presbyterian Hospital, saying that the environment helps keep him energize. Whether or not you watched NY Med, what did you think of the reunion show? Is it weird to think of Dr Oz in a hospital and not a TV studio?
