Dr Oz: 5-Day Plan To Improve Digestion & Stop Bloating
Dr Oz promised to help his viewers to shrink their bellies and rid their bodies of toxins in just five days using a popular technique called “teatoxing.” He spoke to Dr Pina Logiudice, a naturopathic doctor, who explained that using teas to target post-digestion bloat can actually shrink your tummy. You won’t exactly lose fat, but you can start to get rid of the water weight that often results in a lot of bloating.
Dr Oz then explained that the key to a teatox plan is to first tackle the water, then the bloating, and then finally the fat. There are a lot of unsafe teatoxes on the market that can cause irritation to the stomach lining or even diarrhea. Thankfully, Dr Pina’s plan is different because it allows you to make it at home, so you know exactly what you’re getting. Additionally, she paired the tea with a 5-day meal plan so you know you’re getting all the nutrition your body needs to support the teatox. Plus, you’re not wasting money!

Dr Oz: Eliminate Processed Food & Sip On Tea
The first part of the plan is to eliminate processed food, especially sugar. Sugar, alcohol, low-fat foods, and gluten can all contribute to bloating and water weight. Within just a few days, you can actually shift your metabolism and reap the benefits. You’ll first want to start with dandelion tea which can help clear your skin, improve liver metabolism, lower blood pressure, and more. Aim for 1-2 cups a day and if the bitter flavor is too much for you, add just a little honey. A great food pairing to have with your dandelion tea in the morning is an almond flour tortilla with egg and avocado. Another option would be oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts, and cinnamon.
For lunch, sip on fennel seed and ginger tea to increase satiety, help with bloat, and improve digestion. Dr Pina likes to combine 1/2 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds, one teaspoon of chopped or minced fresh ginger, and a teaspoon of honey. Then let it seep in a pot of boiling water and strain if needed. To accompany the tea, Dr Pina suggested you munch on soups or stews because all the nutrition stays right in the pot it’s made in. Plus, because of the warm water, you fill up faster and eat less overall.
Dr Oz: Oolong Tea & Cleansing Salad To Fight Bloating
Next, you’ll love a glass of oolong tea. It has caffeine in it to stimulate your metabolism and is a great antioxidant that has been shown to promote weight loss. You could add a cinnamon stick for an extra flavor and digestion-assistance boost. Because of the caffeine, you won’t want to drink it past 6 PM.
When you reach dinner time, Dr Pina recommends you chow down on a cleansing salad. Pick a base of either spinach or cabbage, then add color from beets, tomatoes, or carrots. Select a crunchy green from asparagus, Brussels sprouts, or celery. Then throw in either fish or chicken before adding a healthy fat, walnuts or olive oil. It’s most important to avoid carbohydrates because your digestion slows down as the day goes on.
Don’t worry, Dr Pina didn’t leave you hanging after dinner. She loves milk thistle tea because it flushes out the gallbladder, liver, and kidneys. Plus, it’s a great way to fight bloating and end the day on the right note.
As for how often you try try a teatox, Dr Pina likes to do a 5-day teatox once every season. But she still enjoys many of her favorite teas each day. But if you’re the type who just can’t seem to get rid of your sweet tooth, Dr Pina suggested licorice root tea. It’s an adaptogen, which means it will keep your energy balanced, balance your blood sugar, and give you the sweet flavor you’re looking for.
