Everyone wants Dr Oz to help them find ways to reduce stress in life. He compiled easy, affordable shortcuts that can help you lower your stress. How can breathing, chewing gum, or ice cubes lower stress?

LaToya said she is always stressed out by her responsibilities at work. On a scale of one to four, she ranked herself as a three.

Via Skype, Dr Andrew Weil shared a simple stress busting tip. He said that you should try his 4-7-8 Breathing Technique.

Dr Oz: Ice Cubes Lower Stress & Dark Chocolate Commute Stress Buster

Dr Oz shared easy, affordable stress busters that can make you feel better. Learn how ice cubes can lower stress and why to keep dark chocolate in the car.

Place the tip of your tongue behind your front teeth. Breathe out through your mouth, making a whoosh sound. Close your mouth and breathe in through the nose for four seconds. Hold your breath for seven seconds and exhale through the mouth for eight seconds.

Try this twice a day every day, and Dr Andrew Weil said it can really start to reduce your stress. Dr Oz added that stress makes us take more shallow breaths, and this will reset your breathing technique to improve your mood.

Dr Oz: Dark Chocolate Commute Stress Buster

Another woman said that her commute is the source of most of her stress. It starts her day off on a bad note, especially if there is weather or another obstacle. She rated her stress at a 3 or 4 out of 4.

Registered dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick shared a couple ideas. She suggested keeping dark chocolate (1.5 oz., at least 70% cacao) and chewing gum in the car to reduce stress hormones throughout the body.

The next woman said that bills give her the most stress in her life, as she tries to manage her family’s finances. Dr Oz said that financial stress can cause health problems. She put her stress at a two out of four.

Dr Jen Hartstein explained that you can bust stress by holding ice cubes in your hand for as long as you can stand it. This will give your body a new sensation to focus on instead of the stress.

Dr Oz also compared this to a stress ball that you squeeze for relief. He also said that prayer beads and rosary beads have been used for stress through the centuries.

Dr Oz shared some budget-conscious ways to lower stress. But you could already have some healthy solutions to cut stress in your house. Find out what they are in the game Dr Oz played with his audience members.

Do you think bell peppers or cucumbers would be a better stress buster? Bell Pepper contain Vitamin C, which can help reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Dr Oz: Eye Mask Stress Relief

In the bedroom, you can create a relaxing environment to help yourself unwind after a long day. Doctor Oz recommended using an eye mask and keeping the room dark and quiet, to produce more melatonin for better sleep.

Dr Oz: Tennis Ball Massage

Tennis balls from the garage can also help you bust stress. Use them to massage the kinks out of your feet. You can do this while sitting or standing, and don’t be afraid to focus on problem areas you might find.
