The Doctors: Seasonal Weight Gain
The Doctors TV show team got together on Christmas Day with some holiday advice that you can actually put to use during your family gathering and with New Year’s Eve coming up soon. According to one study mentioned by Dr. Travis Stork, it is possible to eat whatever you like at Christmas without putting on any weight.
How is this possible? According to experts, the trick is to exercise for 45 minutes per day in the week before a holiday binge. This will help to counterbalance the effects of all those extra calories, even if you consume more calories than you burn. That is because of the effect that exercise routine can have on increasing your metabolism and keeping your blood sugar in check.
The Drs TV: Christmas Dinner Workout
Do you or someone you know make working out a part of the holiday tradition? It can be hard to keep up with your regular fitness regimen, especially if you are traveling. But The Doctors shared some of their own personal experiences as inspiration.
Dr. Travis said that he used to work out before any big meal. Dr. Jim Sears said he rode a bicycle for 60 miles before Christmas dinner with his in-laws, which probably burned up plenty of calories. Dr. Jennifer Berman said even if you are not planning on a holiday binge, you can let yourself indulge with peace of mind if you have been working out.
The Doctors: Class Pass Review
This advice may be a little too late to put into practice for this Christmas, but if you start now, you can be ready to binge when you celebrate the new year.
If you’re looking for a way to get in shape without getting stuck in a rut with the same classes or trainers, The Doctors spoke about Class Pass, which gives users access to classes and workouts at different studios around town for a flat monthly rate. I like the idea, but like any gym membership, it only works if you show up. I feel like I would really have to plan out my month and experiment with a variety of studios and classes to get the full benefit. Would you try this service?
