Dr. Oz: Liver Reboot
Dr. Oz had a great liver reboot for us. During the holiday season, 40 percent of adults drink excessive alcohol, many people eat 2,000 calories at holiday dinners, and this often culminates in two additional pounds. For some people, this is the only weight they’ll gain all year.
Dr. Oz had a liver reboot for us to reduce inflammation, help the liver detox, and eliminate excess fat in the liver.
Dr. Oz: How the Liver Gets Damaged
If you eat the good stuff, like lean proteins and greens, your liver does a good job of filtering things out. The bile helps it along if it has trouble. But when we indulge in unhealthy habits, like donuts, fried chicken, or alcohol, the filter of the liver doesn’t work so well. The bile still tries to help, but the system backs up and the liver turns fatty.
The good news is the liver is the most rejuvenating organ of the body. You can repair this damage, as bad as it might seem.
Dr. Oz: Cutting Out Sugar & Alcohol
Dr. Oz’s solution is cutting out alcohol and sugar for three full days. If you do this, you can help reboot the liver almost immediately. Dr. Oz talked to two women who said the sugar was the hard part for them.
Dr. Oz: Warm Lemon Water Flush
Dr. Oz suggested that we drink 8 cups a day of warm lemon water. This will help flush out all the toxins. The lemon juice calms inflammation in the liver and it helps protect it from the free radicals caused by bad habits.
Dr. Oz: Breakfast Liver Reboot
For breakfast, Dr. Oz wanted us to have probiotics and antioxidants. This means live cultured yogurt to reduce the bad bacteria in the stomach. Berries are full of antioxidants and are great for your health.
Dr. Oz: Liver Reboot Lunch & Dinner
For lunch, you’ll want lean proteins and leafy greens, such as chicken with a salad with dandelion greens. For dinner, you should have more proteins and greens, including some cauliflower into the dinner. Cauliflower helps flush out alcohol, nicotine, and toxic residue.
The two women who had done this diet said it was great. One of them lost four and a half pounds in the three days.
