In another clip from the documentary An Affair of the Heart, two friends explained how they met and became best friends because they’re both Rick Springfield fans. Even their children and husbands get along well.

Rick said that the way he approached performing has changed since he realized how much it’s about the fans. “We exist because of them,” he said. “At first I thought it was me, but it’s not.”

In another clip from the film, Rick surprised fans in their hotel room, screaming, hugging and jumping on the bed with them. He even offered them turndown service, but declined an offer to “jump in.”

Joanna and Jill from the movie were in Dr Oz’s audience. Joanna said she’s been a fan for 30 years, and Jill said she was shocked that Rick surprised them in the movie.

Dr Oz said his audience was full of Rick Springfield fans, and he had a surprise for all of them. His classic hit “Jessie’s Girl” started blaring through the studio, and I guess the audience was supposed to sing along. They did not do a very good job.

Dr Oz called Rick soulful, which he really seemed to be. In the previous segments about the Rick Springfield memoir and his depression cure, he seemed to easily become choked up when reflecting on the events of his life.

Time and a shift in perspective may have humbled him, but he comes across as very down to earth. He comes across very well, and I wish him the best as he continues to manage his depression and live life with intention.
