Dr Oz: Diabetes + Half Circle Roll Exercise for Cervical Spondylosis

Dr Oz: Numbness & Tingling Symptoms

Have you ever had problems with numbness or tingling? Maybe you fell asleep in an awkward position or sat with your legs underneath you and then couldn’t feel your foot when you got up to walk. But how do you know when numbness and tingling are signs of more serious problems, like Diabetic Neuropathy or Cervical Spondylosis?

Dr Oz: Cold Blocks Nerve Communication To the Brain

We have nerves that run all through our bodies, and they are what send messages to the brain telling us what we are feeling. Have you ever tried applying ice to an injury? It can block the pain signals to the brain temporarily by cutting off communication from the affected nerves.

However, there are some situations where numbness and tingling are warning signs of something that could be more serious and require medical attention or a follow-up. Here are the two cases that Dr Oz featured on the show.

Dr Oz: Undiagnosed Diabetic Neuropathy

Dr Oz: Diabetes + Half Circle Roll Exercise for Cervical Spondylosis

Dr Oz explained that feelings of numbness and tingling could be symptoms of a more serious condition, such as Cervical Spondylosis or Diabetic Neuropathy.

If you have numbness in your feet or toes, this is a possible symptom of Diabetes that has not been diagnosed by a doctor. This could cause you to be unable to notice temperature changes or even feel pain.

The cause in that scenario is Diabetic Neuropathy, which occurs when you have nerve damage due to ongoing levels of high blood sugar. That’s yet another reason it is so important for good health to keep your body’s blood sugar levels stable.

Dr Oz: Half Circle Roll Exercise To Prevent Cervical Spondylosis

Another case to watch is a gradual numbness moving up from the elbows, along with a sore neck. This is a sign of a type of Arthritis called Cervical Spondylosis, which is caused by bad posture, leading to irreversible nerve compression.

To prevent this type of permanent problem, try doing a Half Circle Roll Exercise.

  • Stand up straight and place your left cheek on the left shoulder.
  • Roll your head and neck gently back and around to the right side.
  • Repeat this five more times.

Doing this exercise twice a day can help you lower your risk of Arthritis in the neck.

Dr Oz: Wellness Quotables

Dr Oz shared some quotations and motivational statements about health and wellbeing. See if you can guess which two were said by famous individuals.

  1. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”
  2. “Love is all you need, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.”
  3. “You don’t know you’re unhealthy until you get healthy.”
  4. “Your body is not a temple; it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”
  5. “If losing weight was as easy as losing my keys, I’d be skinny.”

The second comes from Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. The fourth is by chef Anthony Bourdain. The remaining quotations are from inspiring Dr Oz viewers like you. Do you have a favorite health mantra?
