Dr Oz: British Tourist Struck by NYC Cab Returns to the Dr Oz Show
It has been three months since Dr. Oz first met a 24-year old college student from England. He says meeting Sian Green changed both of their lives after Sian was hit by a New York City taxi while vacationing there during the summer of 2013. Dr. Oz says the accident happened just outside his office and when he heard the emergency vehicles he and his medical team rushed outside to help. He says by the time he got there an army of good samaritans was already helping and he credits them and the paramedics for saving Sian’s life.
Dr Oz: Rehab Prosthetics Creates New Leg for British Tourist Hit by NYC Taxi

Dr Oz watched as Sian Green, the British tourist who was struck by a NYC taxi in the summer of 2013, took her first steps on his stage with a new leg.
Dr. Oz says Sian’s positive attitude throughout her time in the hospital while here in the United States was absolutely impressive, considering all she had been through, especially since she lost her left leg due to the accident. A couple months after she returned to her home in England, Dr. Oz paid her a visit to see how she was doing and while she says she got right back into her life of being a college student she says she would love to be able to dance again.
Dr. Oz made a request that brought tears to Sian’s eyes when he asked her to allow him to create a prosthetic leg that would be as good as an Olympic athlete would get, one that she could dance on. He enlisted the help of Robert Shepherd and Gordon Wilson of Rehab Prosthetics to make Sian a new limb, and while Dr. Oz says he has seen his share of medical miracles over the years, this one truly took his breath away. Sian even got to pick out the foot that would be best for her, and when she put on her new leg for the first time it brought tears to her eyes as she told Dr. Oz it made her feel normal again.
Dr Oz: Sian Green Takes First Steps on Dr Oz’s Stage
Dr. Oz’s studio exploded with applause as his audience gave Sian Green a standing ovation when she took her very steps onto his stage. Sian has been wearing her new leg for about two weeks and she says so far it is going really well. She says she currently wears it for around an hour and a half every day and will gradually build up to wearing it for longer periods of time.
While she needs a wheelchair for longer distances, Sian says it feels fantastic to simply walk if she needs to go somewhere. A smile never left Dr. Oz’s face as he sat and talked with Sian, calling her a truly remarkable young woman.
Sian Green says her experience has taught her to find strength and determination to fight for everything in life. Her will to survive started when she fought to live after being struck by that taxi cab and it will continue for the rest of her life.
