Dr Oz: Double Chin Solution
Dr Oz dedicated an entire show to good news, and the next bit of good news he had to share had to do with the dreaded double chin. He was brave enough to share a selfie showing off his own “double chin” which, if you ask me, look more like bunched up skin than the typical double chin we think of. The good news is that the FDA just approved a brand new drug for your neck that busts fat cells and melts them all away, without going under the knife.
Dr Oz: Destroying Fat Cells In The Chin

Dr Yael Halaas explained that all it really is, is deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the gallbladder to dissolve our fat. It’s being synthetically produced in a laboratory and injected directly into the fat pad to eliminate the fat cells without surgery. There’s a fat pad located between the two jaw bones and so a template is created on the chin to allow for safe injections without hurting nerves and glands.
The injection goes down into a deep layer of fat and when it’s injected, the material kills fat cells, making them burst and unable to accumulate more fat. That’s different than when you lose weight, because when you lose weight, the fat cells just shrink. When you get rid of the fat, the skin gets elasticity back and your chin will look slimmer.
The FDA studies showed six treatments done one month apart. But you needed about 50 tiny injection in order to get that result. With just 2-4 treatments, however, patients are getting really great results. It costs about $1,600 per treatment, so it’s pretty expensive.
Dr Oz: Kybella Injection Double Chin Solution
Dr Oz then welcomed a woman named Amy who shared that she lost around 40 pounds but her face and chin was one area that she wasn’t able to lose weight from. She lives in scarves to hide her chin, so she was excited to get the injection. Dr Oz explained that she was numbed ahead of time and then Dr Halaas proceeded to give her the injetions through what looked like a marked piece of tape on her chin.
Side effects from the procedure can include bruising, pain, and swelling. You want to check the Kybella website to find a qualified doctor who has been trained for this specific procedure. The results can last indefinitely as long as you maintain a healthy weight. The patient typically ses a 20% improvement after each session. The good news was that Dr Halaas decided to give Amy the rest of her treatments for free.
