Dr. Oz: Mood Swings
Dr. Oz talked to a woman named Amber with serious mood swings on the show today. She always starts her day with the best of intentions, but the littlest things set her off. It usually starts when she gets dressed in the morning. She gets agitated and goes from calm to very frustrated and wanting to throw something.
Her husband has nicknamed her the bear. Sometimes, he’ll go to hold her hand or something, but she won’t be in the mood for that right away. This small touch can even set her off. She said sometimes, if he had just waited five minutes, she would have been fine.
She also said sometimes she gets “hangry”. Her moods are a roller coaster and she’s not sure how to stop the cycle.
Dr. Oz: Living With Mood Swings
Amber joined Dr. Oz in the studio and she said watching her pretaped segment reminds her of how out of control her mood swings are. She said she didn’t know where the mood swings come from.
She’ll start the day feeling fine, but at a certain point, her daughter or her husband will make her mad. It’s taking a big toll because she shuts out her husband and her daughter.
Dr. Oz: Caffeine, Sleep & Diet Can Affect Mood Swings
Dr. Oz took her to the Truth Tube to go over her numbers. Her blood sugar levels were good and her thyroid was normal.
However, there’s also caffeine, sleep, and diet, which can affect hormones. Amber’s caffeine input is way above normal and she’s getting about four hours of sleep at night. She also eats lots of simple sugars and carbs, which helps push her hormones out of whack.
Luckily for Amber, Dr. Oz had a plan to help her gain control of her mood swings and get her life back.
