Dr Oz: Fatigue Remedies
Dr Oz brought up an audience member who stated that she was exhausted all the time. She had a busy lifestyle with work, her 3 children and a jewelry business on the side.
Reasons For Fatigue:
-Not enough sleep
-Not enough exercise
-Can’t deal with stress
Dr Oz: Fatigue Fighting Diet
Day 1 and 2: Change Your Diet:
The audience member stated that she drank a caramel latte every day to wake herself up. (Not exactly a Dr Oz friendly answer.) Doctor Oz told her that while the sugary drink may have been able to keep her awake for a few hours, eventually, she was going to crash.
Day 1: No Simple Carbs Before Noon. Breakfast should consist of turkey bacon (watch the salt) or protein powder shakes.
Dr Oz: Dried Peas
Day2: Introduce Fiber. Dr Oz suggested dried peas. They have no added sugar or added fat like potato chips, however dried peas provide a nice crunch like chips. One-fourth cup of dried peas has 3 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein. (Now, if we could just make it TASTE like potato chips…)
Dr Oz: 5HTP
Day 3 and 4: Add Supplements
The audience member stated she took supplements but that she knew she could be doing more. Doctor Oz suggested taking 5HTP. (You may remember this as a mood-boosting supplement, but it also aids in sleep.) Dr Oz says that carving out 1 extra hour of sleep per night will help eliminate stress and will help you wake up feeling refreshed. (So, you won’t need that caramel latte.) 5HTP is sold over-the-counter in drugstores.
Dr Oz: Pearl Barley Water
Day 5: Hydration
Dr Oz suggested waking up with water:
-8 C of Water
-¾ C of pearl barley
-½ C of honey
Day 6 &7: Improve Physical and Mental Activity- Dr Oz suggested starting off by walking 10 minutes per day. Work up to doing it different times of the day so you can add more walking time. Also, do a one-minute breathing technique.
