Dr Oz: Surgery-Free Solution To Get Rid Of Unwanted Fat
The FDA recently approved a procedure that claims to melt away your fat. Naomi was undergoing the procedure right there on the show, and Dr Mathew Avram explained that there are now a lot of devices that can non-invasively remove fat with little to no down-time. Currently, 75% of fat removal procedures are non-invasive. Dr Avram added that this particular device allows you to do a larger area in a smaller amount of time, which means you can do a large area in about 25 minutes. The applicators can be molded to target specific problem areas and it doesn’t hurt at all.
The way the device works is through heat, which penetrates deeply into the fat to improve the fat layer thickness by about 24% on ultrasound studies. The device is placed against the belly and emits lasers to only affect the fat cells, which doesn’t burn the skin or other tissues. The fat cells separate from the tissue and die, leaving the patient with a visible reduction in fat within 2-3 months.

Dr Oz: FDA-Approved Fat Sculpting Device
Dr Oz reached out to members of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons about the device. Some said it was too soon to know for sure, while others said the device has a lot of potential. Dr Lawrence Bass said the ideal candidate is someone who is regularly exercising but can’t seem to get rid of fat. Another good candidate is someone who doesn’t want to get surgery, but wants to reduce fat.
The larger treatment is about $1,000-1,400 per treatment, but a smaller area is less expensive. It’s not covered by insurance because it’s a cosmetic procedure. The good news is that when the fat cells are destroyed with this procedure, you would have to gain a lot of weight in order to gain fat back in that area.
