Dr Oz did a segment on Eating Disorders including things like Anorexia and Bulimia. Many of us have known personally, or have heard of a friend-of-a-friend, someone who has suffered from an eating disorder of some magnitude. I like to think of people having an eating disorder as people who finds themselves thinking about food on a regular basis. You could have an eating disorder and eat far too much, leading you to be obese. Or you could have the opposite problem, and think about food to the point of making it very hard for you to eat food (or to keep it down).
Dr Oz Bulimia
Bulimia is an eating disorder where a person routinely vomits after eating. So they get the “pleasure” of eating and tasting food, but they force themselves to vomit after eating it so that they do not gain any weight. This can cause the acid from your stomach to literally burn holes in your esophagus. So you definitely must seek out help if you think that you (or someone you know) might suffer from Bulimia.
Dr Oz Anorexia
Anorexia is an eating disorder where you eat very little. The idea of food disgusts you, usually because you teach yourself that food makes you fat. Often people who are Anorexic look in the mirror and think that they are obese or overweight, when in fact they tend to be extremely skinny from not eating. Again, just like in the case of Bulimia, Anorexia is very dangerous and you should seek medical and professional help if you think that you or someone you know might be suffering from Anorexia.
