Pro Ana James: Dr Oz Anorexia & Pro Anorexic Website PrettyThin.com

Dr Oz Anorexia

Dr Oz’s Show on June 13, 2012 will be a discussion about battles with Anorexia and Pro Anorexic Websites that are often referred to as Pro Ana.  Are you or someone you know Dying To Be Thin?  Anorexia is a very serious medical problem, and quite a bit of what Doctor Oz will reveal is highly alarming… definitely not something that children should be watching (just as a heads up!).  Dr Oz will also be talking about the Shades of Hope Treatment Center, which is a great resource if you or your loved ones are suffering from Anorexia.

Pro Ana James

Dr Oz's Anorexia show will cover "Pro Ana James" (as nicknamed by our readers!) and Pro Anorexic websites like PrettyThin.com.

Pro Ana James of PrettyThin.com

So just what is a Pro Ana Website?  James, found of PrettyThin.com, does not believe that his website is Pro Ana (meaning that it promotes anorexia), but if you have a look at his website, you might feel otherwise.  It is one thing to try to inspire overweight individuals to lose weight, but I do believe that PrettyThin.com is going a bit too far.  Some of the photos of girls on their website seem like the walking dead.  What do you think about PrettyThin.com?  And what is your take on Pro Ana Websites overall?  I can’t guarantee that James (who was nicknamed Pro Ana James by some of you Dr Oz Fans readers!) is reading this article, but you never know… so leave your feedback in the comment section below!  How wonderful would it be if we could put an end to promoting Anorexia through Pro Ana Websites?!?!

Dr Oz Anorexic: Bryan Bixler

Dr Oz will also speak with Bryan Bixler, a man who fought hard to overcome Anorexia.  Yes, you read that correctly, an Anorexic man.  It is an all too common misconception that men do not suffer from Anorexia when it fact they do.  I am thrilled that Bryan Bixler is doing better with his Anorexic battle, and I hope that Dr Oz’s Anorexia show on June 13, 2012 is helpful to anyone suffering from Anorexia.  And let it be an eye-opener to parents everywhere to be sure that your children are not reading Pro Ana Websites!  Whether you consider PrettyThin.com a Pro Ana website or not, it is definitely on my list of websites that children and teenagers should not be viewing!
