Dr Oz: Food Addiction
Dr Oz’s Show on June 30, 2011 is about Food Addiction. Could you be a Food Addict? And what can you do if you are addicted to food? Doctor Oz gave a list of 5 warning signs of a Food Addiction, which include the following:
2. You Think About Food Over 1 Hour Every Day
3. You Eat After Arguing
4. You Experience Withdrawal Symptoms When Not Eating
5. You Can’t Stop Eating Even When You Are Not Hungry
Do at least three of these Food Addiction Warning Signs sound familiar to you? If so, Dr Oz gave a 3 Step Plan for breaking your Food Addiction. Click here to read more about Food Addicts and Dr Oz’s Food Addiction Plan: Dr Oz Food Addiction.
Dr Oz: Chia Seeds & Valerian Tea
Doctor Oz also did a segment on Foods To Help You Snooze. You can improve your ability to get good quality sleep by changing your diet to include foods like Chia Seeds, Valerian Tea and Wheat Germ. I was thrilled to hear that Chia Seeds (yes, the same seeds used in Chia Pets!) are high in Tryptophan, and therefore are a great remedy for helping you to fall asleep. One of my friends gave me her delicious Chia Seed Pudding Recipe, after days of begging her, so that I could share it with all of you! It tastes somewhat similar to tapioca pudding, but really Chia Seeds are in a class of their own.
Dr Oz: Sorbitol Laxative in Chewing Gum
Dr Oz also spoke about the difference between Constipation vs Bowel Obstructions. Perhaps the most interesting part though was when Dr Oz shared different ways to avoid constipation and Bowel Obstructions. Most of us know that you need to eat lots of fiber to help keep your bowel movements regular (apples, raspberries, prunes, avocados, etc.), however did you know that chewing gum can prevent constipation? Apparently there is an ingredient called Sorbitol that is found in chewing gum and it can act as a Natural Laxative to help keep your bowel movements regular!
